All financial institutions in Saudi Arabia must hire Saudi nationals to take leadership and executive positions in their offices, the central bank said on Sunday.
If they hire foreigners, they will have to explain the reason to the organizer, as part of a Saudi government campaign to replace expatriate workers with Saudi nationals in the kingdom and reduce foreign labor.
The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) said: "This move comes as part of SAMA's efforts to nationalize leadership positions in financial institutions under its jurisdiction in accordance with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's Vision 2030 for the development of the Kingdom.
Vision 2030 is a program of economic reforms aimed at separating the Saudi economy from oil revenues and increasing employment opportunities for Saudi citizens.
The move is part of a wider Saudi government campaign to replace expatriate workers with Saudi nationals.
