Brussels tended to ban some vehicles, in certain regions, in a transitional period of three months, and the violator will be notified according to the law within the allowed period.
As the low emission area throughout the Brussels-Capital Region entered into force in January of 2018, and since then the criteria for reaching this area have gradually evolved as a result of the increased permissible emission rates.
Vehicles that are banned as of January 2020?
Whereas, as of January 1, 2020, Euro 3 diesel cars (cars, buses and vans) will be banned, meaning cars registered between January 1, 2001 and December 31, 2005. According to the Brussels-Capital Region, 47,000 vehicles will be affected by this measure.
These vehicles will benefit from a transitional period of three months if they are exceeded, the owners will be notified of a violation according to a warning letter, and starting from April 1, 2020 they will risk a fine of 350 euros.
